The Driven to Discover Citizen Science Project was started as a way to engage youth in authentic scientific inquiry by making use of the rich learning environment provided by citizen science. We developed a curriculum for middle school youth in extracurricular groups, such as summer science programs, 4-H clubs, nature center programs, and more. Based on the results of the initial youth groups to participate in the Driven to Discover Citizen Science Project, we fine-tuned our curriculum to meet the needs of both the youth and adult leaders.
