The project began as a search for sound management principles in the middle terrace landscape of Lake Rebecca Park in Hastings, Minnesota on the Mississippi Rover. It then expanded to become the broader study found on this website.

Special thanks to the city of Hastings, Dakota County, Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, Minnesota Historical Society (Photo on main page), Design Center for American Urban Landscape (Photo on Terrace page), and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

"Each generation has its own rendevous with the land,
for despite our fee titles and claims of ownership,
we are all brief tenants on this planet."
