Information about the complete publication and how to order it is available here. IntroductionThis is one of four units in the Simply Good Eating nutrition education curriculum. The 133-page book addresses basic nutrition principles and physical activity as part of a healthy lifestyle, how to get key nutrients in one's diet, the importance of eating breakfast, and how to choose healthier, lower-fat, and lower-cost breakfast foods, snacks, and fast foods. The set of 35 colorful comparison cards help participants learn what nutrients are in common breakfast foods, snacks, and fast foods and how to substitute more nutritious foods that are lower in fat and sugar for less healthy, higher-fat and -sugar foods. The activities are highly adaptable to the needs and interests of a diverse range of participants. New in 2008, handouts are now in English and Spanish. This curriculum complies with the 2005 Dietary Guidelines for Americans and MyPyramid and is recommended for EFNEP and FSNEP staff, other nutrition educators, and teachers.
