Black Walnut Management


If the planting site has been cropped recently, leave stubble for moisture retention, weed suppression, and erosion control. But, remove excess stubble that will interfere with machine planting of walnuts; chisel-plow if there is a plow pan; or disk to loosen compacted soil.
