Then clearcut the stand soon after the acorns drop in the fall. Harvesting should occur before the ground freezes and in a manner that scarifies the site, thus covering the acorns with soil and leaves. Good scarification is achieved by dragging whole trees over the ground, by bulldozing the site with a toothed blade that runs on the surface, or by disking. This regeneration method has worked in a few trials but needs further testing before results can be predicted more accurately.
