Oaks commonly reproduce from acorns. Northern red oaks produce good acorn crops at 2 to 5 year intervals. Acorn production varies widely from year to year. Total production may range from just a few thousand acorns per acre in a poor year to more than 250,000 per acre in a good year. But these numbers are deceiving.
