The singing ground should be a bare spot about 20 feet in diameter surrounded by shrubs and trees no more than 10 feet tall for a radius of 10 to 30 yards. Log landings often make good singing grounds. A 1/2 acre opening in each 10 acres of woodland should meet the needs of woodcock.
