Woodcock are migratory birds that inhabit northern forests from April through October. Woodcock feed on earthworms commonly found in moist alder and aspen stands. For breeding, feeding, and raising their young, woodcock require the same mix of aspen stands that grouse require, except that woodcock also need small forest openings for singing grounds during courtship.
