Dairy Cow Diseases and DisordersGood herd health management programs include: checking all animals daily for injury or sickness; handling animals quietly to prevent excitement and injury; consulting with a veterinarian regarding specific disease problems; and implementing a preventive program. Table 18 summarizes the more common nutritional diseases and disorders. Consult your veterinarian regarding treatment of these conditions. Early detection, early diagnosis, and prompt corrective treatment will keep losses at a minimum.
