Lemon verbena, Aloysia triphylla, is a very fragrant shrub-like herb that is primarily a pot-herb in Minnesota. It is not hardy and must be overwintered indoors. Lemon verbena's intense lemon fragrance is used dried in potpourri or fresh to flavor oil and vinegar. It's also great for tea. It can be started indoors from seed, or purchase plants.
