Marjoram, Origanum majorana, isa close relative of oregano and has a sweet, spicy flavor and is often used with oregano in Italian cooking. It is an annual grown from seed and is about 12 inches high. Start indoors and transplant outdoors after the last frost. It prefers a sunny location and a slightly dry soil. Use marjoram fresh or dried in salads, dressings, soups, beans, and meats.
