Oregano, Origanum vulgare, isa perennial to Zone 5. However, some southern Minnesota gardeners are successfully growing it in Zone 4. It can be started from seed and grown as an annual. Oregano is our familiar pizza and spaghetti sauce herb. The flowers, especially those cultivars with pinkish blooms, are pretty in dried floral wreaths. Oregano comes in different varieties and cultivars, so experiment with various kinds until you find one you like.
