Chervil, Anthriscus cerefolium, is an attractive herb that prefers some shade and is a good choice to plant under a shrub out of the direct sun. Too much sunlight will bleach the leaves. Chervil is easy to start from seed and prefers a moist, rich soil. Use it in any recipe calling for parsley, adding it toward the end of cooking. It has a delicate flavor and is best used fresh rather than dried. Add it to salads of fresh greens. It also compliments egg dishes. Chervil is perfect for indoor herb gardens.
