Summer savory, Satureja hortensis, has a peppery flavor and is used primarily in dishes with beans, peas, or lentils. It is good added to meatloaf. An annual herb, it can be direct seeded in a sunny location after frost danger is over. It grows quickly so harvest it before you see flower buds. It may reseed in your garden.
