8. Basil surrounded by wave petunias!
Basil, Ocimum basilicum 'Purple Ruffles,' is combined here with wave petunias for an attractive display. Basils love sunshine and warmth. Plant seed outside in full sun after all danger of frost has passed or set out plants after soil has warmed and frost danger is over. Basils are tender annuals in Minnesota. Their average height is about 18 inches. This purple variety has a subtle flavor and would be a pretty addition to a salad.
