The University of Minnesota Extension Service is pleased to host the first ever East Central Agricultural Expo at the Cambridge Intermediate School (428 NW Second Avenue) on Saturday, January 20th, 2007 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. The objective of this Expo is to connect farmers, hobby farmers, agricultural professionals and agribusiness in East Central Minnesota, through a trade show featuring local agricultural businesses and educational sessions.
Presenters from the University of Minnesota, state agencies, and private industry will present 12 educational sessions throughout the day. Three session will run concurrently with two session designated for adults and one session designated for youth. Session topics will include:
- Forage Storage Systems
- Manure Management
- Bovine TB and Other Diseases of Concern
- Meat Goats
- MN Department of Transportation Rules and Regulations for Farmers
- Small Grain Management
- Grain Marketing
- Tillage Options
Youth session topics will include: Carcass Judging, Ask A Vet Lab, Animal Judging, Ag Jeopardy, and an Agricultural Career Scavenger Hunt. An update on the National Animal ID System will conclude the Expo.
To date, Expo exhibitors include; Minnesota Farmers Union, Soil and Water Conservation District, Farm Service Agency, Scharber and Sons, Barnick Agency LLC, Federated Coops, Farm Advantage, Grantsburg Animal Hospital, Martens Farm Service and Equipment, Schmitz Sales, Chisago County Master Gardeners, and the University of Minnesota Extension Service.
The cost to attend the Expo is $10 for adults and $5 for youth, and pre-registration is required by January 16th, 2007. The cost to attend the expo includes lunch and a printed proceeding from Expo speakers.
