 Soybean Scouting Clinic to Focus on Soybean Rust

Producers, agronomists, seed dealers, crop scouts, and any other interested agricultural professionals are invited to attend a “Soybean Scouting Clinic: Focusing on Soybean Leaf Diseases Including Soybean Rust” on Friday, July 22nd. The Scouting Clinic will be held in Jackson from 8:30 to 11:00 am at Minnesota West Community and Technical College, Room Y101, 401 West Street, and in Albert Lea from 2:00 to 4:30 pm at the Albert Lea Public High School, 2000 Tiger Lane , Room E113.

The clinic will focus on scouting techniques and identification of soybean rust and look-alike diseases. The current status and management techniques of soybean rust will also be discussed. Handout materials will be provided and participants will practice identifying soybean rust with hands-on samples and in-field activities (weather permitting). Time-relevant tropics such as soybean aphid will also be discussed.

Dr. Jim Kurle, Associate Professor and Soybean Pathologist with the University of Minnesota, Liz Stahl, Regional Extension Educator in Crops at the Worthington Regional Extension Center, and Ryan Miller, Regional Extension Educator in Crops at the Albert Lea Regional Extension Center will be the discussion leaders.

The cost is $10 per person or $20 per person if CEUs are desired (2.5 CEUs have been applied for).
