Lincoln County Information

Lincoln County

Lincoln County is in the southwestern part of the state of Minnesota on the South Dakota border. Yellow Medicine County is on the north, Lyon County is on the east and Pipestone County is on the south. Lincoln County is rectangular in shape and extends 18 miles east and west, and 30 miles north and south. The total area of the county is 550 square miles, 535 of which are land and 15 are water. The total population of Lincoln County as of the 2000 Census is 6,429.

The county seat is located in Ivanhoe. Other cities located in Lincoln County are Arco, Hendricks, Lake Benton, Tyler and Verdi.

There are a number of lakes in the County. The most important being Lake Benton, Lake Shaokatan, Lake Stay, Dead Coon Lake and Lake Hendricks, which is largely in Brookings County of South Dakota.
