Applications for the program are available in September and may be obtained by calling (651)480-7700. Training for candidates selected for the program is in January at the University of Minnesota, St. Paul Campus, and is taught by faculty. In return for receiving the training, Master Gardeners donate 50 hours of volunteer time to the Dakota County Master Gardener Program their first year. To remain certified in subsequent years, Master Gardeners donate a minimum of 25 hours and must have at least 12 hours of continuing education.
