    Work Experience

    Scott joined Extension in 2007 to develop new and strengthen existing performance management and evaluation efforts for Community Vitality's programs and initiatives. Scott brings experience in evaluation project management, grant writing, research, public policy analysis, database management; and community development and organizing. He leads the Civic Engagement program development team, and is currently developing Ripple Effect Mapping projects to investigate the impacts of Community Vitality programming.

    Before joining Extension, he spent ten years with Minnesota's Department of Human Services where he designed, conducted and reported on the evaluation of programs, including the state's welfare reform programs. He has demonstrated experience in both qualitative and quantitative methodology and analysis; participatory evaluation strategies, and in conducting evaluation and research in diverse settings – from the squatter settlements of Arequipa, Peru to the offices of bank community reinvestment officials. He is fluent in Spanish conversation and reading. Scott teaches a Contemporary Sociology online course in the Social Science Department at Metropolitan State University.

    Work Experience

    Joyce joined the Center for Community Vitality in 2001. As assistant director, she manages communications and the Center's administrative team. For all of Extension, Joyce also develops annual reports to the USDA. For 16 years, she worked in development and communications for MELD, a national nonprofit organization that replicated parenting education programs. At Extension, Joyce has authored and co-authored a number of publications featuring Community Vitality's work, including articles for Community Dividend, a publication of the Federal Reserve Bank in Minneapolis, and New Directions for Higher Education. Joyce is the editor of CD Practice, the Community Development Society on-line journal that publishes articles about successful practices in the field of community development.
