Manure Management and Air Quality Education
<<previous program | next program>>
Program Description
Animal agriculture plays an essential
role in Minnesota’s economy through its value
added contributions and is part of the fabric of sustainable
agriculture and sustainable
rural areas. Unfortunately, the manure generated from these
animals has the potential to negatively impact the air and
water quality of the state. Federal, state, and local regulations
are designed to protect these natural resources. However,
meeting these regulations requires innovations in technologies
and management practices. The University of Minnesota and
the University of Minnesota Extension Service continue to
provide extensive research and education programs on economically
feasible and environmentally sound manure handling systems.
These programs are essential to the continued sustainability
of the agricultural industry in our state.
