Z.umn.edu is a URL-shortening service for University of Minnesota employees and students. We recommend it for when you need a short URL for University-related content. For example, you can set up a short URL that goes to your event registration page, so that it is easier for people to type it into their browser. It also works great when you have limited space, such as on Twitter.
For Video/Podcasts on external sites > Use the web update form to send the link to the video/podcast. Our students can put the link on your website. (This is not embedded video – just a link).
For original Video/Podcasts > Put your video on YouTube and send the link via the web update form. Our students can either put the link or embed the video on your website.
Thinking about a blog? Please read the blog request guidelines.

The Extension Social Media Guide has policies, standards, best practices, how-tos, and a directory of Extension accounts. To let us know about a new social media account, use the social media start-up form.

NetFiles is a file storage application with collaboration and sharing features. To see what NetFiles is about, visit the University's About NetFiles page.
To get started on NetFiles, go to your Internet Account Options page. Select the last link on the page: "NetFiles Account Options."
Once you have activated your account, go to the NetFiles home page. You should now be able to log in with your U of M account info. In the left column under "Tools," select "Contacts and Groups." By setting up a group of users, you can easily share files with that group.
Need help? See Extension IT's Netfiles User Guide (PDF).
