Extension Focuses for the 21st Century |
The university's Employee Assistance Program (EAP) provides consultation, counseling and referral services for employees. It also provides training and consultation for managers, administration and supervisors on work climate, effective supervision, managing change and other employment related topics.
All contacts, consultations or counseling with employees are held in strict confidence. Information about any such contacts is not given to the organization's administration, management, supervisors or colleagues. One of the reasons for having the EAP outside a unit or department is to further assure and protect confidentiality.
David Johnson, director of the university's EAP, has offered to provide brief articles (see below) devoted to managing change for Extension employees. We welcome David's guidance and suggestions as we all work to handle difficult change.
The university EAP program is available to all university employees. You can reach them at 612-626-0253 or at http://www1.umn.edu/ohr/eap/. County appointees and support staff may be covered by a county EAP if your county (or counties jointly) has such a program.
