Change or modify the situation through problem solving. This includes:

• Negotiating
• Taking optimistic action
• Seeking advice
• Brainstorming new plan

Change the meaning of the situation through reappraisal. This includes:

• Applying knowledge of transition process
• Developing rituals
• Making positive comparisons
• Rearranging priorities
• Using denial
• Using humor
• Having faith

Manage your reactions to stress. This may include:

• Playing
• Using relaxation techniques
• Expressing emotions
• Doing physical activity
• Participating in counseling
• Support groups
