Morocco and Minnesota Connections

Morocco and Minnesota Connections was three days of events and activities to build upon the historic relationship between the University of Minnesota and Morocco that began in the 1960s. The collaboration began with exchanges of students, educators and researchers in agriculture and veterinary medicine. Although sustainable agriculture is still a key area of the partnership, areas such as leadership, community development and tourism, Arab language learning, and business continue to grow.

Conference activities were intended for:

  • Interested University leaders, faculty, educators and students
  • Moroccan visitors
  • Community and business leaders

Public events were intended for anyone interested in learning about Morocco and the special relationship between Morocco and the state of Minnesota.

Morocco-Minnesota Connections objectives:

  1. To recognize the Kingdom of Morocco as a venue for increased exchanges because it is a global hub for business, culture and education
  2. To learn from Moroccan professionals, Moroccan U of M alumni and other representatives who will highlight current educational and research programs
  3. To connect University of Minnesota faculty and staff to Moroccan professionals with the intent of exploring future collaborations
  4. To permit Moroccan partners to spend time meeting departmental faculty and staff to discuss potential common goals in education and research
  5. To share Moroccan culture and history through select films, musical or art presentations during the week
