Why should I consider this?
To Learn and Develop Skills and Relationships
You will develop an understanding of your personal strengths and leadership characteristics. You will learn to manage and participate in meetings that work, as sessions provide concrete ideas and tools for making meetings more effective.
U-Lead Advisory Academy workshops provide real results for professional and personal development; program evaluations have shown significant changes in:
- personal leadership and communication skills
- their ability to address critical issues and challenges
To Find Leadership Companions
You will learn about people and projects across Minnesota, and the other participants in U-Lead Advisory Academy care about Minnesota as much as you do. They will become a resource for you as you face your future leadership challenges. Participants of the first three cohorts reported that they discovered real help among this new network of people.
To Share Information
You will lend an important perspective to the programs' discussions, adding information about your connection to the University and influencing the future of Extension in Minnesota.
To Gain Insights
You will hear ideas and strategies that have worked in other parts of Extension, other parts of the state, and other sectors and institutions. You will have the opportunity to bring this back to the communities and organizations you care about.
Topics
The U-Lead Advisory Academy is a dynamic educational experience featuring an online component, four in-state sessions, and a five-day national study tour to Washington D.C.
As a result of participating in U-Lead Advisory Academy I will have the opportunity to develop skills, knowledge and networks related to:
- My leadership strengths and styles
- Communicating effectively and dealing with conflict
- Valuing diversity and difference
- Effective meeting and decisions-making techniques
- Building relationships(leaders and followers)
