Small Farm and Rural Living Expo

For the small farm enterprise or small-acreage owner.

On September 12th, 2009 the University of Minnesota Extension is offering its 2nd Annual Small Farm and Rural Living Expo at the Scott County Fairgrounds in Jordan, Minnesota. The Expo will be held from 8:30am to 4:30pm and will offer educational seminars, demonstrations, trade show vendors, local foods, a kid’s corner, as well as music throughout the day.

In a similar format to last year’s event, the 2009 Expo will feature seminars on issues related to living on small acreages including the topics of permaculture, machinery selection, and agriculture business management. It will also showcase demonstrations such as keeping a healthy beehive, sheep-shearing, and cheese-making. The Expo will again include the “Aisle of Breeds” showcasing livestock suited for small farms and acreages. A special program at this year’s Expo will be the SARE stage with farmers reporting on their on-farm research activities.
