Are your residents shopping locally?

Retail sales are not spread evenly across Minnesota. People can travel to other regions to spend their money. We can graphically see how retail purchases per capita vary across the state. In the maps below, maroon, yellow and gray colors indicate that local retailers are losing a percentage of the expected retail dollars to other areas. The blue counties are places that are attracting consumer dollars from outside their local community. Expected sales are adjusted for population and average income.
