Information About Registering...

For the 2013 ONLINE Private Applicator Certification Exam

Read all instructions first to successfully register and access your online exam!

Important Tips:

  • Register only once. Registering twice causes more problems. If you have registration issues contact Mary Kay Ferguson (see for contact information Information About Assistance or Troubleshooting also linked from the online exam main page).
  • Use your own unique email address when registering.
  • Do not use someone else's email address who also took the online exam this year or in the past or who may interacted with the University of Minnesota (a student's U of MN email address etc.)
  • If you took the online test in past (such as three years ago), do not use the same account information (ID and password). Rather click to create a new account with a new ID and password.
  • If you have been previously certified and do not have your Private Pesticide Applicator certification number, get it by calling the MDA at 651-201-6615. Not including it will delay processing of your new card.

Registration Instructions:

  • The registration link can be found at the bottom of the main exam web page you just left

  • In the "Start your Registration" page that opens, read the information in the box on this registration page.

  • Click on “Login/Create Account.”  Follow the prompts and answer all of the questions in the registration and payment process. 

  • Type in your own unique email address. Do not use anyone else's or Do Not Use someone else's email address who also to the online exam this year or in the past.

  • Click on continue.

  • Next, complete the "Registration Information" and "Other Info" form. Be sure to complete all items with a red star. Be sure to fill in your Private Pesticide Applicator certification number if you have one.

  • Click on continue.

  • Now you will be on the payment page. Enter your credit card information. Please note: this is non-refundable registration. Once fee is paid for the on-line exam, mail-in exam or a recertification workshop, it cannot be transferred. Switching from one method to another will require another payment.

  • Once you complete the registration form and payment information, click on Finish.

  • The next screen will appear with your registration confirmation. You can print a copy of it or a registration receipt for your records.

  • Instructions for accessing MOODLE and a guest account will be emailed to the email address you provided. It may take anywhere from 2 hours up to two business days for you to receive this information. Registrations received after business hours will be processed the next business day.

  • You will receive four different e-mails: 1) Registration confirmation; 2) PPA exam customer support info; 3) Your University of Minnesota Guest Account; and 4) You now have access to the 2013 Private Pesticide Safety Education Exam.

  • Keep these emails for reference. Follow the instructions in them to access your exam.
  • The exam is available immediately once you receive the four emails with access information.  Access the exam by clicking on the link found in the "You now have access to the 2013 Private Pesticide Safety Education Exam" email and log in with the guest ID and password in the "Your University of Minnesota Guest Account" email. The you can begin taking your online exam at the Moodle site
