Gardening on the radio

Kandiyohi County

Plants growing in rows in a garden

On Saturdays, from March to September, Kandiyohi County Master Gardeners host a one-hour radio segment, “Ask a Master Gardener,” on KWLM 1340. Master Gardeners discuss gardening hot topics along with issues they face in their own yards. This past year, each segment reached about 500 area residents and provided research-based answers to an average of 10 listener questions per show.

Some of the most popular topics during the 2017 growing season were about proper lawn care, growing rhubarb and garlic, and how to deal with pests and diseases affecting vegetable gardens. County residents say they look forward to each weekly segment and appreciate having a trusted resource to get answers to local, current, gardening-related issues.
