I am IFP (in forma pauperis). Can I take the course for free?
Yes! See how to take the course for free.
I can't afford the cost of the course. Is a sliding fee scale available?
Yes! See how to apply for a reduced fee.
How do I register for the course?
Registration is easy! Follow the step-by-step instructions on the Registration and Access page.
How long will I have access to the course?
Once you register, you will have access to the course for 60 days. You should receive a reminder a couple of weeks before your access is set to expire.
Do I need to complete the course all at once?
You can go in and out of the course as often as you like. Since this is an online course, it can be completed at your own pace. Be sure to keep record of the internet ID and password you set when you register. Also, it may be helpful to save the course link in your internet favorites so you can easily access it again in the future: Parents Forever™ Online Course for Parents (Moodle home page).
How much time can I expect to spend on this course?
The time spent on the course will vary by individual. The Minnesota Supreme Court requires at least 8 hours of education to meet divorce education requirements. Plan to spend 8 hours at a minimum on the online course. Additional time should be spent looking at the recommended resources. See more about the minimum standards or What Will You Learn?
Will my Minnesota judge/attorney accept the online version of the Parents Forever™ course?
Even though the online course has received official approval from the Minnesota Supreme Court, not all judges/attorneys are familiar with the course. Even though most parents have not had difficulties getting the course approved, it is still recommended that you get the course approved by your judge/attorney before registering.
I live in another state. Does this course meet the court requirements in my state?
Court requirements vary state to state. As a general rule, the standards set by the Minnesota court system are the most extensive, both in terms of topics covered and hours of education offered. Unless your judge/attorney has required a specific course, there is a good chance that the Parents Forever™ Online Course for Parents will meet and exceed the standards set by your state's court system. We recommend you discuss this course with your judge/attorney to get it approved before registering. Also, please note that there is a version specifically adapted for North Dakota parents: Parents Forever™ Online Course for North Dakota.
Can I receive documentation for the time spent in the course?
Yes! After you completing each module, you will be asked to complete an online feedback form and quiz. After successfully completing all feedback forms and quizzes, you will be directed to a webpage to print off your certificate of participation.
