How much does this course cost?
This course is free.
How do I register for the course?
Registration is easy! Follow the step-by-step instructions on this page: Registration and Access.
How long will I have access to the course?
Once you register, you will have access to the course for 60 days. You should receive a reminder a couple of weeks before your access is set to expire.
Do I need to complete the course all at once?
You can go in and out of the course as often as you like and complete at your own pace. Be sure to keep the internet ID and password you receive when you register.
How much time can I expect to spend on this course?
The time spent on the course will vary by individual. You can expect to spend approximately 5 hours at your computer going through the course. Additional time should be spent looking at the recommended resources as well reviewing your pay statement, investment documentation, Social Security statement, etc. and talking to others related to your finances.
What can I expect from the course? (I don’t have much investment background — will that be a problem?)
While this course was really designed for “beginner” investors, we’ve heard that even experienced investors may learn new information from the course.
Once you register, you will have immediate access to the course. The course is set up in different modules that correspond to different investment-related topics. Each module features narrated presentations, activities, self-assessments, and additional resources. While everything is located online, you may wish to print copies of key resources to use later.

Can I receive documentation for the time spent in the course?
Yes! After you have completed the workshop, you will be asked to complete an online evaluation. After completing the evaluation, you will be directed to a webpage to print your certificate of participation.

Moodle, the courseware used for this course, is easy to use. Once you get into the course, everything should be self-explanatory. If you want more information on Moodle, watch the Getting Started with Moodle video or see the Moodle Student Guide. These links will always be available from within the course, in the left navigation bar.

Help! I’ve registered for the course but I can’t remember how to get into (or back into) the course.
Click on the direct course link to access the course: Invest Now: Money in Retirement Online Course (Moodle home page). You may wish to save it in your internet browser favorites.
Help! I’ve registered for the course but when I try to log in, I keep getting an error message about my username and/or password, or it asks for a self-enrollment key.
Double check that you are using the correct username and/or password. See the next question if you can’t remember your username and/or password.
If you are confident that both are correct and the error message indicates your password is “not strong enough,” try to enter it anyway. If you’ve entered it and it seems to stop you from proceeding, contact Heather Lee (firstname.lastname@example.org; 612-626-6602).
Help! I’ve registered for the course but I can’t remember my username and/or password.
If you have an x500 username, given to University staff and students, you would have used this username for your course. If you do not have an x500 username, you would have used your complete email address (including the @XXX) as your username.

Help! I’m having problems within the course itself.
If you are having problems with the general course platform, Moodle, watch the online orientation video or see the Moodle Student Guide. These links are also available within the course, in the left navigation bar.
If you are having problems getting a specific element of the course (presentation, link, assessment, etc.) to work, double check that you are using Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome to enter and view the course. If you are not, this is the problem! Download one of those web browsers and use it every time you enter for best usability.
