Jose Lamas began working with University of Minnesota Extension in 2005 as an AmeriCorps VISTA member focusing on financial literacy. In August 2007, he transitioned to a paraprofessional position with the Extension Center for Family Development as a member of the Latino Financial Literacy Program Team. As a native Spanish speaker, Jose provides classes and 1:1 education related to financial capability with primarily Latino adults and youth. He also networks and builds partnerships with service providers in southwest Minnesota, primarily in Nobles County, one of the most diverse counties in the state.
Jose has a Bachelor of History degree from Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall, MN. He is currently pursuing an Accredited Financial Counselor® designation from the Association for Financial Counseling & Planning Education.
