Kathleen A. Olson began her work with University of Minnesota Extension in July 1972 and is currently program director for the Partnering for School Success program, which includes working as coordinator for the Hmong Families for School Success internal Extension grant. Her work focuses on parent education, educational disparities, and school success. Kathy also has extensive experience with curriculum development, professional development and training, and grant writing and management. Kathy co-authored the Education: Our Best Legacy Educational Package and three Positive Parenting curricula and related materials. She has held various roles with Extension, including program director for a five-year CYFAR project (Partnering for School Success for Latino families), family relations specialist in the Rochester regional office, and Extension educator and county Extension director in Goodhue County. She served as president of her national professional association, National Extension Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (NEAFCS) in 2014.

Kathy has bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Home Economics Education from the University of Wisconsin-Stout, Menomonie, WI.
