Qualey-Skjervold Scholarship and Professional Development Fund
Rosella Qualey was a long-time Extension administrator and supporter of Extension staff addressing critical contemporary issues and needs of Minnesota families. She passed this passion onto her daughter, Leanne Skjervold, and together they created the Qualey-Skjervold Extension Scholarship and Professional Development Fund in 2006.
About the Fund
The Qualey-Skjervold fund supports Extension staff who work in the areas of family resiliency, health and nutrition, or food safety to gain additional education and professional development experiences that allow them to be better prepared to meet the needs Minnesota families.
Through the years, this fund has been used to sponsor two categories of professional development:
- Scholarships for Extension professionals to pursue credit or non-credit coursework, education, or other professional development opportunities such as conferences.
- Financial support for team-based professional development experiences. For example, the Qualey-Skjervold fund has been used in-part to host the annual Qualey-Skjervold Professional Development Conference for Family Development staff since 2006.
