Synchronization Planner
A cooperative programming effort
between the Iowa Beef Center and the North Central
Regional Bovine Reproductive Task Force.
The University of Minnesota Beef Team
is now offering an “Estrus Synch Planner” available
on CD. The Synch Planner is an excel spreadsheet designed
to customize your breeding schedule utilizing estrus
synchronization and artificial insemination. Included
in the planner are 5 worksheets: 1) Program; 2) Tips
and Overview; 3) Planner Worksheet; 4) Print Out; and
5) Calendar.
The Program offers several options
to manage your breeding season for both heifers and cows
providing tips and overviews of the program, along with
optional supporting papers and a detailed list of 22
estrus synchronization protocols. The planner worksheet
allows a producer to customize their own breeding season
using 1 of the 22 estrus synchronization protocols with
the capabilities of choosing their breeding date, type
of insemination method desired, cost of products used
and preferred time of day to inseminate. The report gives
detailed cost of the protocol and operating cost, based
on the number of head to synchronize. Along with projected
breeding cost, a chart is available comparing cost with
varying estrous responses and conception rates. A detailed
calendar is created with capabilities of printing your
customized calendar, along with tips and suggestions
to achieve optimal reproductive performance.
