The Minnesota Crop Production Retailers Association and University of Minnesota Extension will host the 2011 CPM Shortcourse and MCPR Trade Show December 13 through 15, 2011, at the Minneapolis Convention Center.
The 3-day program starts Tuesday, December 13 with the TSP recertification program, Pesticide Applicator Recertification: Category H – Seed Treatment Session, MCPR's plenary session, Agricultural Fertilizer Research and Education Council research reporting session and MCPR annual meeting.
On Wednesday, December 14, the program will continue with pesticide applicator recertification for categories A (Core) , C (Field Crop Pest Management), H (Seed Treatment) and the Crop Pest Management Short Course.
The CPM Shortcourse's General Session will start with the theme "The New Normals – Adapting to Changes in Economics, Climate and Pest Genetics". Drs. David Asbridge, Mark Seeley and Bruce Hibbard will present and discuss recent changes in demand and price for grain crops and fertilizer, weather and climate trends impacting Minnesota agriculture, and the rapid changes in the development of crop pest resistance such as corn rootworm when deploying transgenic insect resistance technology.
The concurrent sessions on Wednesday afternoon will expand further on the morning program.
The concurrent sessions at the CPM shortcourse on Thursday, December 15, continues the strong educational program with a wealth of pest, crop and fertilizer management topics including: corn and soybean insect and disease issues, precision ag technologies, high-yield systems for soybean production, the economics of proactive versus reactive herbicide resistance management strategies, phosphorus, potassium and sulfur updates for corn fertility, nitrogen fertility options and timing for corn, results of Minnesota high yield corn trials and research results for new nitrogen stabilization products.
