Description
The Minnesota Crop Production Retailers Association and University of Minnesota Extension will host the 2009 CPM Short Course and MCPR Trade Show December 8th through the 10th 2009 at the Minneapolis Convention Center.
The 3-day program starts Tuesday, December 8th with the TSP recertification program and MCPR’s plenary session and annual meeting.
On Wednesday, December 9th, the program will continue with pesticide applicator recertification for categories A (Core) and C (Field Crop Pest Management) and the Crop Pest Management Short Course.
The CPM Short Course’s General Session will start with the theme “Possibilities and Probabilities”. Drs. Paula Davis and Laura Higgins, James Specht and Antonio Mallarino will present and discuss perspectives on corn insect trait development and risk management, possibilities of doubling soybean yields by 2030, and the alternatives for phosphorus soil-test interpretations and fertilizer application, respectively.
The concurrent sessions on Wednesday afternoon will focus on emerging corn and soybean insect issues, corn nematodes, evaluation of new alternative nitrogen products, and improving soybean production.
The concurrent sessions at the CPM shortcourse continue on Thursday, December 10th, with a wealth of pests, crop and fertility management topics including foliar fertilizer research for corn & soybeans, corn residue management, probabilities of corn yield responses to foliar fungicide, using precision farming tools to maximize profit by developing a site specific recommendation for corn plant populations and herbicide resistant weed management. See the complete agendas.
Who Should Attend?
Agronomists, sales people (seeds, chemicals, fertilizers), crop consultants, crop production specialists, regional and local extension educators, government agency personnel, farm managers, and anyone else who appreciates high quality research-based professional training.
